Unlikely Alloys is the tenth episode of season two of SWAT Kats: The Radical Squadron, and the twenty-third episode overall.
Synopsis[]
The SWAT Kats are doing some gyroscopic g-force training when Razor's training device falls apart and sends things flying. Unfortunately, this results in the destruction of the SWAT Kats' radar jammer, leaving them vulnerable to Enforcer tracking. Their discussion on how to replace it is disrupted by word that the Metallikats are attacking the Megakat City Mint. Mac and Molly soon cut their way into the mint vault and are unimpressed when the Enforcers arrive to deal with them.
In part, this is due to some recently acquired weaponry, which Mac nearly uses to take out Commander Feral before T-Bone and Razor arrive. Unfortunately, though they manage to stop the Metallikats and damage Molly, the mint suffers considerable damage and Mac manages to escape with his wife. Feral, as usual, is furious with the SWAT Kats, though Felina is kind enough to express thanks for their part in saving her uncle's life. Mac soon has Molly back at their apartment, and then sees a news story about Dr. Lieter Greenbox's new Micro-Brain Repair Unit.
Having witnessed the device's amazing ability to repair machinery, Mac realizes that the unit is the perfect solution to repair Molly. The SWAT Kats, having also seen the story, decide to take their jammer to Greenbox, unaware that Mac has already seized the device. Molly is soon back in full working order, but the Micro-Brain then goes haywire and takes apart the Metallikat Express to fashion a robotic body for itself. The Micro-Brain then puts itself at Mac and Molly's disposal based on their superior experience and begins taking apart Greenbox's lab to add to its body.
Now referring to itself as Zed, the new robot sets its sights on the Turbokat as the SWAT Kats arrive for their visit with Greenbox. It fails to absorb the jet, but soon begins consuming a fleet of Enforcer Peacekeeper Tanks that arrive to confront it. Zed, intent on finding its "true purpose", declines to help the Metallikats in another raid on the mint, and promptly takes Mac apart when he tries to bully it into subservience. The SWAT Kats find their weaponry ineffective, and the Turbokat narrowly escapes being torn apart but ends up with serious damage.
Molly then arrives to demand the SWAT Kats' help, and Greenbox informs the two vigilantes that Zed is his Micro-Brain after being infected with the Metallikats' personalities. Greenbox soon arms the unlikely allies with protective measures to prepare them for a dangerous mission: going inside Zed to try and disable it. Meanwhile, Zed marches towards a Puma-Dyne Industries facility, intent on adding the weaponry inside to itself and thus gain the power to take over the world. As the Enforcers desperately try to hold off the now titanic Zed, the SWAT Kats, Molly, and Greenbox infiltrate the mechanical beast and are soon dealing with robotic "antibodies."
Running out of jetpack fuel partway through the towering machine, the four are forced to proceed on foot. Outside, the Enforcers are desperately trying to evacuate Puma-Dyne, only to learn that their dangerous Mega-Beam satellite weapon is still on site. Back inside, the SWAT Kats' party arrives at Zed's "heart" and find Mac tied into Zed's systems. When Molly demands that the others help free her husband, Razor removes her protective force-field generator and leaves her to be pulled into Zed's frame herself.
Unfortunately, Greenbox-who has been increasingly impressed the more he's seen of Zed's workings-suddenly refuses to deactivate his creation, seeing it as a living embodiment of his own genius. He seizes the Micro-Brain Unit and flees with it, forcing T-Bone and Razor to chase him. When they catch up to Greenbox, they find that Greenbox and Zed have now merged into a single entity, which soon disarms the SWAT Kats and sets its sights on the Mega-Beam. The deranged inventor and his creation, after testing the weapon, turn it against Megakat City itself.
At the last second, T-Bone breaks free of his restraints and shatters the Micro-Brain, which sets off a chain reaction that causes Zed to begin collapsing. The SWAT Kats manage to make their way outside with a now unconscious Greenbox before the mechanical monster falls apart. Unexpectedly, Feral actually proves grateful to the SWAT Kats for once, and the two heroes discuss their recent exploits with Felina. Meanwhile, contrary to the SWAT Kats' expectations, Mac and Molly are still alive, though Mac's head is now attached to a food processor.
