Synopsis[]

Megakat City finds itself under attack by a mysterious aircraft that destroys or damages several targets with an energy weapon. The owner of the craft introduces himself as Dark Kat, a monstrous hulking figure who dispatches monstrous minions to raid Megakat Nuclear Power Plant in order to steal fuel rods from the reactor. Callie Briggs arrives on the scene and is briefly hindered by Lieutenant Commander Steel before being allowed through by Commander Feral. Callie urges Feral not to have his Enforcers fire on Dark Kat for fear of damage to the facility, but he ignores her warnings. It proves a moot point, as the defensive and offensive capabilities of Dark Kat's craft prove too much for Feral's forces.

Callie heads off to contact the SWAT Kats, who are the moment are the midst of a pepper-eating contest. After receiving Callie's report on the situation, they suit up and take off in the Turbokat, arriving at the power plant much to Feral's usual annoyance. However, their own weaponry initially proves just as ineffective as the Enforcers', and they're distracted from their assault when Ann Gora's news chopper gets shot down. Their rescue effort leads to the Turbokat being left vulnerable to Dark Kat's heat ray, forcing them to retreat. Left with no other options, Commander Feral decides to sneak aboard Dark Kat's ship with a beacon so that the Enforcers can follow him, reluctantly leaving Steel in charge.

Back at their base, Razor and T-Bone are repairing the Turbokat when Callie calls them again with news of the latest developments. Feral, contacting Steel, soon learns that Steel has not sent anyone after him, the Lieutenant Commander apparently being quite content to occupy Steel's office. Feral attempts to confront Dark Kat himself, only to be seized by Dark Kat's minions. Back at their lair, Razor and T-Bone recall their first encounter with Dark Kat, back when the two of them were still members of the Enforcers. The two were in hot pursuit of Dark Kat, who was about to attack Enforcer Headquarters.

However, just after Jake and Chance had disabled Dark Kat's weapons and had him firmly locked in their sights, Feral ordered them to stand down. When they refused, Feral deliberately struck their fighter in order to claim the victory for himself. The two were forced to evacuate their damaged jet, which then crashed into Enforcer Headquarters. Dark Kat escaped in the confusion, and Feral-ignoring his own role in the disaster-blamed Jake and Chance for the damage he caused. Feral promptly kicked the pair off the Enforcers, and then sentenced them to work off the cost of the destroyed building at the junkyard. Unknowingly, he gave them the means to take justice into their own hands as the SWAT Kats.

Back in the present, T-Bone and Razor set off to thwart Dark Kat and, reluctant as they may be, rescue Feral. They follow Feral's signal to Dark Kat's volcano lair, where the villain is preparing to destroy Megakat City so he can build Dark Kat City in its place. T-Bone and Razor board the Cyclotron to make their way into the interior of the lair but run into trouble when Dark Kat spots them on his surveillance system. He unleashes a flood of molten lava, and the Cyclotron is then seen plunging into another river of the substance. Fortunately, the two vigilantes managed to latch on to a stalactite.

Feral manages to escape his bonds but is knocked out when he goes after Dark Kat. T-Bone and Razor then arrive to confront Dark Kat themselves, but he manages to escape with the bomb with which he intends to destroy Megakat City. After helping Feral outside just in time to meet several landing Enforcer jets, T-Bone and Razor take off in pursuit of the villain. Feral is soon following suit, with a reluctant Steel forced to act as his superior's copilot. The SWAT Kats catch up to Dark Kat just as he's about to drop the bomb, and Razor attempts to sabotage the release levers.

Unfortunately, Dark Kat's Creeplings interfere with Razor's efforts, and the bomb is soon dropping with Razor on top of it. He tasks T-Bone with going after Dark Kat while he attempts to disarm the bomb, a potentially suicidal mission. T-Bone manages to short out Dark Kat's shields, but history then threatens to repeat itself as Feral flies in to try and claim the kill for himself. Fortunately, Razor is successful in disabling the bomb, and T-Bone pulls ahead of Feral to shoot down Dark Kat's ship. Much to T-Bone's relief, he is also able to pick up his partner, with the deactivated bomb now lying in front of the Enforcer Headquarters building they're still paying for repairs of.
