Synopsis[]
In an old graveyard in Megakat City, two graverobbers are hoping to find something they can sell to the city museum. They stumble across an old chest that, when opened, emits a powerful green light and reveals a diminutive, cloaked figure. Much to their horror, the small being turns out to be alive, and introduces himself as the Pastmaster. Having been imprisoned for 800 years within the chest, the Pastmaster is now eager to find his book of spells. Tom, the more belligerent of the two graverobbers, has other ideas, wanting to deliver the Pastmaster to the museum. However, he and his more nervous partner Jack soon have other problems, as the Pastmaster uses his magical abilities to raise Zombie Kats from the graveyard to menace them.
The graverobbers are quickly chased off, and the Pastmaster sets the zombies to work digging in search of his spellbook. The activities of the Pastmaster and his new minions soon draw the attention of an Enforcer Chopper, which quickly blasts the two zombies to dust. The Enforcers aboard the chopper then receive orders to bring the Pastmaster's former prison to the museum, unaware that the Pastmaster has hitched a ride on their cargo net. Disgusted by state of the modern world in which he finds himself, the shrunken wizard decides that he will alter things to suit himself once he finds his book.
The scene then shifts to the underground lair of the SWAT Kats, who are training in a G-force simulator. Razor, the smaller of the pair, passes out during the exercise, and he and his partner T-Bone quickly decide to go for another round. Meanwhile, at the Megakat City museum, Dr. Abby Sinian is being interviewed by deputy mayor Callie Briggs, and the two briefly discuss the Pastmaster's recently arrived chest. The Pastmaster, exploring the museum himself, is confronted by a guard, prompting him to use his magical watch to reanimate a saber-toothed tiger. The disturbance draws Dr. Sinian and Callie, who are then pursued by the zombie creature.
The Pastmaster, while searching for his book, rifles through Callie's purse and inadvertently activates a small device he pulls from inside. This, as it turns out, sends an alarm signal to the SWAT Kats, who hear the tiger rampaging before it destroys Callie's communicator. Realizing that trouble is afoot, the two swiftly board their fighter jet, the Turbokat, and fly towards the museum. They arrive on the roof just as the two she-kats burst out onto the roof, pursued by the tiger which then leaps onto the cockpit of the Turbokat.
Razor is able to dislodge the east by opening the jet's canopy, allowing T-Bone to rescue Callie and Dr. Sinian from a precarious perch hanging from one of the building's drainpipes. Razor then encases the tiger in cement, and the four kats then observe the arrival of several Enforcers. Meanwhile, the Pastmaster locates his Tome of Time and emerges from the museum, using the book to summon a Megasaurus Rex into the present day. The SWAT Kats swiftly take off in pursuit of the villains and his monstrous conveyance, but their initial attack fails utterly. Out of control, the Turbokat ends up flying through the portal opened by the Pastmaster, and the SWAT Kats find themselves flying in the skies of a prehistoric world.
Having lost all their fuel due to damage taken in the battle, the SWAT Kats crash land next to a large lake. They soon find themselves menaced by various denizens of the ancient landscape. Meanwhile, back in the present, the Enforcers find one prehistoric monster more than a match for them. As Commander Feral arrives on the scene to oversee operations, the Pastmaster determines a means by which he may revert Megakat City to his Dark Ages world. His Megasaurus Rex becomes trapped in tar, but the Pastmaster summons Pterodactyls to carry him to his old clocktower, now Megakat City Hall.
Back in the past, T-Bone and Razor are dealing with their own squadron of Pterodactyls using their jet-equipped ejector seats. After luring the creatures into a volcano and escaping, the two set about finding a means of getting the Turbokat working again. They decide to tap the natural gasses of the volcano to replace their exhausted fuel supply. Meanwhile, in the present, the Pastmaster begins his spell to restore the Dark Ages, blasting back Dr. Sinian and Callie when they attempt to reason with him.
T-Bone and Razor manage to get the Turbokat flying just in time to escape more prehistoric monsters, and then spot the portal opened by the Pastmaster's latest spell. The Enforcers attempt to stop the Pastmaster, but are quickly taken down by his Pterodactyl minions. Fortunately, the SWAT Kats then emerge from the portal, though they too are set upon by the Pterodactyls. T-Bone throws the Turbokat into a dive, though this time the G-forces cause him to pass out instead of Razor.
Working quickly, the SWAT Kats stop the clock before sending the Pastmaster and his last Pterodactyl flying into the portal. They then shred the Tome of Time before leaving the scene, having saved the day once again.
