Katastrophe is the thirteenth episode of season one of SWAT Kats: The Radical Squadron.

Synopsis[]

At Megakat Bio-Chemical Lab, two guards are enjoying late night donuts when they're disturbed by a noise, which turns out to be one of Dr. Viper's mutants. The mushroom-like monster makes quick work of the guards, allowing Viper to enter a lab in search of Katalyst 100. However, he finds that Dark Kat's Creeplings have already seized the chemical, and a battle soon erupts between the villains. Their efforts attract the attention of the SWAT Kats, flying by in the midst of testing their latest weapons systems. Unfortunately, the lab building is destroyed in the process, once again earning the SWAT Kats the ire of Commander Feral.

Dr. Viper, while fleeing through the sewers, runs into Dark Kat, and the pair briefly clash. However, Dark Kat then proposes that the two join forces in order to deal with their mutual enemy: the SWAT Kats. Later, at Enforcer Headquarters, Feral turns in his "evidence" against the SWAT Kats. However, the guard fails to notice Creeplings breaking in and stealing two other pieces of evidence: namely, the remains of the Metallikats. Callie informs the SWAT Kats that Feral is gunning for them, unaware that a far more dangerous force is also arraying against them.

Viper and Dark Kat rebuild the Metallikats, who are unwilling to join their alliance against the SWAT Kats until tortured by Dark Kat's Neural Scrambler collars. The pair are soon robbing a bank and tearing through the city in a new Metallikat Express, despite the efforts of the Enforcers to stop them. Callie soon alerts the SWAT Kats to this development, only to be spotted and then targeted by the Metallikats herself. Fortunately, the SWAT Kats quickly airlift Callie to safely, unaware that Dark Kat is observing everything and directing the Metallikats.

Razor deploys on the Cyclotron after the Metallikats head into a tunnel, only to be grabbed by another of Viper's mutants. However, Dr. Viper prevents the Metallikats from taking Razor out, and he manages to hop into the Metallikat Express himself. Unfortunately, T-Bone is unaware of this fact and opens up on the Metallikat Express, forcing Razor to ditch the vehicle. The Metallikats then open fire on Razor only to be attacked in turn by T-Bone, before the arrival of the Enforcers forces the SWAT Kats to flee.

Annoyed by this failure, Dark Kat once again tortures the Metallikats, but soon sets his sights on another plan to apprehend the SWAT Kats. Callie, after updating the SWAT Kats on Feral's ire, leaves city hall for an event with Mayor Manx. Unfortunately, their chauffeur is revealed to have been replaced by Mac, who knocks the pair out. Dark Kat then interrupts a televised interview between Commander Feral and Ann Gora to show off his prisoners and instruct the SWAT Kats on where to meet him if they want the mayor and deputy mayor to live.

The next day, the Turbokat flies to the meeting point, only to be shot down by a barrage of missiles from Dark Kat's lair. Both a disguised Feral and a horrified Callie observe this. However, it doesn't take long for the villains' alliance to break down, as they quickly begin arguing over what happens next. Meanwhile, the SWAT Kats are revealed to be alive and well, having allowed the Turbokat to be shot down so they could get the drop on the villains. Unfortunately, Dark Kat was prepared for just such a development and traps the SWAT Kats and mayors inside the forcefield.

However, the Metallikats and Dr. Viper then turn against Dark Kat, and a firefight soon erupts between the four villains. In the chaos, Feral slips inside and deactivates the forcefield, and then forms his own alliance with the SWAT Kats against the criminals. Dark Kat convinces the Metallikats to join him in fighting the SWAT Kats, only for the three of them of become trapped in Dark Kat's forcefield. Dr. Viper tries to make his escape, but is soon thrown in with his former partners.

Dark Kat then reveals that he's rigged his latest base to explode, and the SWAT Kats, Callie, Manx, and Feral barely manage to escape in the SWAT Kats' submarine. Believing the villains to have perished in the blast, Feral hopes that Megakat City will enter a more peaceful era. However, even if it doesn't, the SWAT Kats intend to be around to protect it. Both Feral and Manx are perturbed, however, when Razor and T-Bone ask if they can borrow an Enforcer Jet while they wait for the city to provide them the funds for a new Turbokat.
