He is also the smarter and more athletic of the two, using his genius intellect to create all the weapons the SWAT Kats use during their heroic exploits and martial arts skills to use them. He keeps this up even when under the guise of "Razor". However, unlike Chance he is far more cautious and not much of a risk taker, something Chance likes to push him to do, Jake likes to boss Chance around.

Jake Clawson is one of the two main protagonists of SWAT Kats: The Radical Squadron. Together, he and his partner Chance Furlong make up a duo of crime fighting vigilantes known as the SWAT Kats, with Jake, under the alias "Razor", serving as the duo’s mechanic, gunner and maintenance expert. He is voiced by Barry Gordon.

Appearance

Unlike Chance, Jake is skinny, normal and average size. His fur is rusty red.

Personality

Personality-wise, Jake is like Chance, he's fun loving, brave, loyal, generous, and friendly but clever. He is also the smarter and more athletic of the two, using his genius intellect to create all the weapons the SWAT Kats use during their heroic exploits and martial arts skills to use them. He keeps this up even when under the guise of "Razor". However, unlike Chance he is far more cautious and not much of a risk taker, something Chance likes to push him to do.

Though, as the gunner, Jake does hold a lot of weight on his shoulders as every shot he takes he could accidentally hurt an innocent bystander. In "Razor's Edge" Dark Kat exploits that and causes him to lose his confidence and puts them in jeopardy when they take to the skies once again.

His confidence is restored soon, but there just may still be that lingering doubt in his mind that may haunt him on every mission he goes on.

Background

Jake in his civilian clothing

Not much is known about Razor's past prior to his dismissal from the Enforcers.

One day, Jake and Chance were chasing after Dark Kat as Enforcers and thanks to Chance's superior piloting, Jake was able to lock a target on Dark Kat's ship. Both were ready to shoot down the evil villain but their superior, Enforcers commander Ulysses Feral, told the two to stand down and allow him to take Dark Kat alone. Seeing the stupidity of Feral's plan, Jake and Chance decided to rebel against orders and take the shot. However, Feral used his wing to tip theirs', causing Jake to miss Dark Kat and Chance to spiral out of control and crash right into the Enforcers' HQ. Needless to say, Dark Kat escaped thanks to Feral's interference.

While he was okay, Feral took his anger out on Jake and Chance and dismissed them as Enforcers. He then sent them to work at the local salvage garage to pay off the damages Feral caused. Still, Jake and Chance wouldn't have it, using the parts far the salvage yard, they created the powerful Turbokat jet and many more vehicles. Jake created many weapons from the scrap and the two became the SWAT Kats.
